Damn good. All day.

Permit Room Portobello

Curved boldly around a corner of London’s Portobello Road

Step inside our all-new all-day bar-café. Breakfast gloriously. Sip chai, or coffee, or stay for a cocktail. Snacks, chaats, picky Chicken Pick-Me-Ups and plates to share at lunch and dinner. (Aunty’s Masala Eggs are devilish, savoury, sour, sweet.) Quench your curiosity at the bar. The New Permit Room Old-Fashioned is coconut-washed. Try the Sober Summer Negroni (teetotally delicious). Local beers, too, if that’s your thing. Admire the art – it’s everywhere. Each week, resident DJs spin vinyl. Come for a good time and a long time. Open to all.

Where there’s music, there’s revelry.

We turn the volume up at Permit Room, taking cues from Slip-Disc jam sessions and Rang Bhavan in ’70s Bombay. Stick a song on the jukebox.

Soul, jazz, disco, hip-hop! Western and South Asian. Curated by London-based producer and DJ, Rohan Rakhit.

Every Thursday, resident DJs spin vinyl. Sip strong cocktails to punchy beats. Stay late, open to all.

Food & Drink

Breakfast early or lazily. Rich brews from Deluxe Coffeeworks London. Crumpety Eggs Kejriwal or hot Permit Room French Toast – all-new dishes, exclusive to Portobello Road (with a smoky couple of bacon rashers). Later, refresh lips with a pink and hazy, sweet ‘n’ salty collab: the Permit Room x Goodness Brewing Co. Watermelon Sharbat Gose. Goes best with spicy snacks and ruby murrays.

Our doors are officially open! Secure a table for breakfast, lunch, dinner, cocktails! If the time you want isn’t available, simply swing by and walk-in (we hold lots of tables for walk-ins, and we’ll get you seated quickly). After the kitchen has closed, come for a late-night drink and snack. If you’re with a big party, it’s best to book in advance (you might be spread across some close-together tables). Any questions – chat with us.
